Clothing

As we know, it is very hard fot men to dress up to look good. For most men it is a main priority to dress in clothes in which they feel comfortable. And it's okay. Who wouldn't like to feel comfortable, right?

Choosing the best suit is much easier than choosing a lady´s dress. But this doesn’t mean you don’t have to pay attention to the choice of the right suit! It’s very important that the jacket and trousers match together. The jacket mustn’t be too long or have wide sleeves, also the trousers shouldn't be baggy, etc.

Also, the choice of the tie or the bow tie might cause a bigger problem. And the question is: bow tie or tie? Most of you surely were thinking about it… but the answer is really simple. Both of them are at the same social level. So in the end it doesn’t matter what you wear. But generally, the bow tie is meant for more important occasions.

The important factor is also the combination of colors and patterns you mix together. When we speak about the formal suit we’re supposed to avoid difficult patterns and bold colors. The most typical example of such a formal suit is a suit made of a black fabric. That means a black jacket, black trousers, black shoes, dark socks. And to complete this outfit we usually wear a contrasting white shirt.

And that’s it. Now the last thing you’re expected to do is style your hair and go straight to the parquet. A smart man in a  fitting suit can’t be overlook by any woman.

Lifehacks

Have you ever thought... How come everyone looks so good? How can they look so elegant?

  • Pockets, or no pockets, that is the question
Soon after you purchase a suit, whether it's black or blue, you´ll find out that the breast pocket and both of the side pockets of the jacket are sewn up. Don´t panic. It's just some kind of custom of all the clothing stores. It is really important that you only cut open the breast pocket, the remaining side pockets are just design components and therefore it's useless to open them. You would then only have a tendency to put in some stuff, which would leave the pockets loose and looking weird.

  • Mirror saves it all!
A tie can look really good, but is not as easy to throw on like a bowtie. We've got to pay attention to the length of the tie, check if its not crumpled, if the knot is tight enough etc. I'm not gonna be explaining how to tie a tie here, but it's only for the best if you stand in front of a mirror while tying it so you can check your work.

  • With gloves towards victory
In every dancing school there is an option of wearing white gloves. For what? The reason is simple. When dancing, we sweat a little here and there. By that I don't mean that dancing is too much of a physically demanding activity but a rather warm suit and foul air are going to help sweating really quickly. And no lady likes touching your sweaty hands. However if we put on the gloves…. Voila ! Problem solved.

  • Blue + brown
The color combination of the suit, shirt, bowtie, tie and shoes that you like is mainly individual. Everyone likes something different, everyone likes different color combinations. However after all the dancing lessons I found out that both ladies and gentlemen, in the most cases, like the combination of blue suit with brown footwear.

  • Choosing a suit
You come to a shop, choose a shirt that has the right size, don't even try it on and go straight to the checkout. This method works pretty well for t-shirts, but there's no way you can use it for choosing a suit for dancing lessons. When it comes to formal attire like a suit or formal pants, the cut, shape, length and such can be key. In my opinion the best thing you can do is ask someone experienced in this area for help.

  • Shower
Není snad pocit, když Vám žena uprostřed tance řekne, jak nádherně voníte, k nezaplacení ? Když se před každým kurzem a před každou společenskou akcí vysprchujete nebo si dáte vanu, rozhodně chybu neuděláte.

  • Take care of your suit
Every time you get home from a dancing lesson late at night you'd love to just hop in your bed and wake up the next day just in time for lunch, am I right? That's not the right thing to do though. After every event you dress up for, you have to hang your suit properly in your closet. It's better to carefully examine if your suit isn't folded wrong or crumpled in any way. Trust me, it really pays off. Every little fold or crease is really visible on this kind of clothing. This way you can avoid any kind of unnecessary problems.

Etiquette = A curse word?

For those who have no idea what this word means i will explain it in a nutshell.

Etiquette is a set of rules which a person should follow all the time. There's no such thing as an exact manual on what optimal behaviour should look like, but in this article we will give you some advice on how to get at least a tiny bit closer to it.

Within the ongoing dance lessons we were constantly told that etiquette is the number one rule we should oblige during lessons. Even though girls' etiquette is mainly about having to sit with your legs together, walking in heels, always smiling, etc... In our case it's mostly about how to behave around a lady. Let's go through it.

The basic rules of etiquette:

  1. Whether you're coming in or coming out, whether you're accompanying a lady you know or one you've never met in your life, whether you like her or not, you must hold the door for her. Always.

  2. There's usually a cloakroom at a dancing lesson. So how about helping a lady out of her coat and taking it there? You'll save her a lot of work.

  3. During a gentleman's privilege you can't choose a lady. If you're on your way for your classmate but someone is faster than you, ask a girl sitting nearby.

  4. The man should pay. If you meet a woman, you get along well and you invite her to have a drink with you, you should also pay.

  5. Don't avoid eye contact. It's certainly quite inappropriate to examine a woman from every angle before starting conversation, just to check if she does live up to your requirements. Try to look into her eyes and smile at her.

  6. If you've finally summoned up the courage and asked a woman to dance with you, it's only suitable to start a conversation with her. You can ask for her name for starters, that's never a bad choice. Even if you're not a big of a dancer and you have to focus on most of your steps, try to say something every now and then.
